SILAMBAM
India is a Land of Knowledge, where many Gods and Saints have given Divine Knowledge to lead a good human life. The art of Silambam also has age-old history in ancient texts of South India. I have tried my level best to come out with what I have learnt so for from my Guru, Spiritual books and Friends. Silambam is a common word now used in Tamil Nadu, for the Martial art of Stick- Fencing. In other parts of South India it is called by different names, such as.. Kolu Varasay or Dhonay Varasay in Karnataka, Kolu Aatta or Karadi Aatta in Andhrapradesh, Neduvari or in Kerala.
KUTTHU VARESAI
The Art of Kutthu Varesai is an advanced form of barehanded techniques, which is developed by the Siddhars who gave this art to the people to protect themselves from their enemies. This form of art is developed on the basis of foot movements, hand and leg move. The Kutthu Varesai teaches Nelaygal (standing positions or poses) of several hours in one particular position, this makes the practisar gain strength on the position of exercise, it is a form of Yoga. Kutthu Varesai also aims in capturing the energy of animals and making them selves behave and act as wild as an animal in the life threatening situation. Depicting animals and making them selves move and attack like an animal makes men stronger.
KUNDALINI
The word Kundalini is a familiar one to all students of Yoga, as it is well known as the power, in the form of a coiled serpent, residing in Muladhara Chakra, the first of the seven Chakras, the other six being Swadhishthana, Manipuraka, Anahata, Visuddha, Ajna and Sahasrara, in order.
VARMA KALAI
The Varma Kalai is a martial art coming from Southeast India, more exactly from Tamil Nadu. Literally, “Varma Kalai” means “the art of vital points”. This art is composed of hand-to-hand fighting, fighting with weapons, and also martial gymnastics. The study of this art goes beyond learning fighting techniques. |
